NAROK COUNTY TO BEGIN COVID-19 TESTINGS.

The County Government  of Narok yesterday received 400 Covid-19 testing kits from the national government – and will from today begin testing of all the people currently in quarantine as well as health workers and security personnel.

The testing kits were distributed to the six sub-counties this morning.
The testing was ordered yesterday by Governor Samuel Ole Tunai when he announced the arrival of the 400 kits from the National Public Health Laboratory in Nairobi.

Governor Tunai also directed that people who live close to the Tanzania border, especially those known to be frequent travellers into Tanzania, will get priority in testing. He highlighted Olpusimoru and Olderkesi in Narok West, Mausa, Olemesutie and Ilkerin in Loita, and Angata and Mashangwa in Transmara West as the areas most exposed to infections from across the border.

Speaking to the media yesterday, Governor Tunai also announced that the county government was working with the national government in rolling out special measures in the border areas, including  priority testing, increased surveillance and restriction of movement across the border.
